Data Driven Modelling and Control Strategies to Improve Biogas Quality and Production from High Solids Anaerobic Digestion: A Mini Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is one of the oldest processes for producing biofuels from organic waste. Approximately 180 years have passed since construction first modern plant, however, large prospects improvement are still feasible, especially in regards to quality and uniformity biogas produced. This work focalizes on main issues available post-production treatment biogas; subsequently, a mini-review data-driven models control strategies bio-methane production plants presented. Attention focused High Solids Digesters (HSADs), these reactors present many interesting advantages, including high number operating variables which enable process optimization, methane concentration exit, reduced reactor volume low water requirements. HSADs with Europe aiming rapidly increase bio-methane, order carry out de-carbonization reduce dependence external imports. Crucial points achieving objectives include qualitative leaps operation management, which, contrary current practice existing plants, require significant automation, product reduction stops due death bacteria at changing parameters (such as temperature pH). The most papers related quality, briefly analyzed.

Effect of Physical and Chemical Operating Parameters on Anaerobic Digestion of Manure and Biogas Production: A Review

Introduction: The need for food produced from animal husbandry has made it a growing industry which result in increment of livestock waste. On the basis of environmental and economic considerations, these materials require treatment and management. Anaerobic digestion and creation of biogas are the most effective methods of waste management. Several parameters affect the anaerobic digestion of ...

Biogas production from undiluted chicken manure and maize silage: A study of ammonia inhibition in high solids anaerobic digestion.

The feasibility of co-digestion of chicken manure (CM) and maize silage (MS) without water dilution was investigated in 5-L digesters. Specific methane production (SMP) of 0.309LCH4g(-1) volatile solids (VS) was achieved but only at lower %CM. Above a critical threshold for total ammonia nitrogen (TAN), estimated at 7gNL(-1), VFA accumulated with a characteristic increase in acetic acid followe...

2. Production of Biogas by Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion is a natural process in which bacteria convert organic materials into biogas. It occurs in marshes and wetlands, and in the digestive tract of ruminants. The bacteria are also active in landfills where they are the principal process degrading landfilled food wastes and other biomass. Biogas can be collected and used as a potential energy resource. The process occurs in an an...

Is sonication effective to improve biogas production and solids reduction in excess sludge digestion?

Results of three semi-continuous anaerobic tests were reported and discussed. Each test was carried out by two parallel anaerobic reactors fed with waste activated sludge, either as it was sampled from the sewage treatment plant of Rome North or previously disintegrated by ultra-sound treatment. Activated sludge was sonicated at the energy input of 5,000 or 2,500 kJ kg(-1) dry solids correspond...
